Arches National Park

Located 30 miles north of Wilson Arch, Arches National Park preserves over two thousand natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch.

Discover a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures unlike any other in the world. The park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. This red rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets.

Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park preserves a colorful landscape of sedimentary sandstones eroded into countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The Colorado and four districts: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the Rivers themselves.

There are two paved entrances into Canyonlands National Park: – Island in the Sky District is north of Wilson Arch Community, 9 miles north of Moab on US 191, then west on Highway 313; – the Needles District is 40 miles south of Wilson Arch Community on US 191, then west on Highway 211.

Dead Horse Point State Park

Dead Horse Point is one of Utah’s most spectacular state parks. Towering 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, the park provides a breathtaking panorama of Canyonlands’ sculptured pinnacles and buttes.

Access to Dead Horse Point State Park is north of Wilson Arch Community, 9 miles north of Moab on US 191, then 22 miles west on SR 313.

La Sal Mountains

The La Sal Mountains are right in our backyard, to the east, just minutes away from Wilson Arch Community! The 1,413,111 acre Manti-La Sal National Forest is divided into three land areas:

On the La Sal Division-Moabmountain peaks (12,000 ft elevation), canyons, and forest add climatic and scenic contrast to the hot red-rock landscape of Arches and Canyonlands (5,000 ft elevation).

The La Sal Division-Monticello offers timbered slopes to provide a welcome middle ground and background contrast to the sand and heat of the surrounding desert. Pictographspetroglyphs, and stone dwellings are evidence of past civilizations.

The Manti Division is part of the remnant Wasatch Plateau (5,000 to 10,000 ft elevation) exhibiting high elevation lakesdiverse vegetationnear vertical escarpments, and areas of scenic and geologic interest.

Natural Bridges National Monument

Located south of Wilson Arch Community, near Blanding, Natural Bridges National Monument protects some of the finest examples of ancient stone architecture in the southwest. The monument is located in southeast Utah on a pinyon-juniper covered mesa bisected by deep canyons of Permian age Cedar Mesa Sandstone. Where meandering streams cut through the canyon walls, three natural bridges formed: KachinaOwachomo and Sipapu.

Monument Valley

Located south of Wilson Arch Community on the Arizona / Utah border, Monument Valley boasts sandstone masterpieces that tower at heights of 400 to 1,000 feet framed by scenic clouds casting shadows that graciously roam the desert floor. The angle of the sun accents these graceful formations, providing scenery that is simply spellbinding.

Hovenweep National Monument

Located southeast of Wilson Arch Community, between Blanding, Utah and Cortez, Colorado; Hovenweep National Monument protects six prehistoric, Puebloan-era villages spread over a twenty-mile expanse of mesa tops and canyons along the Utah-Colorado border.

Multi-storied towers perched on canyon rims and balanced on boulders lead visitors to marvel at the skill and motivation of their builders.

Mesa Verde National Park

Located southeast of Wilson Arch Community near Cortez Colorado, Mesa Verde, Spanish for “green table”, offers an unparalleled opportunity to see and experience a unique cultural and physical landscapeThe culture represented at Mesa Verde reflects more than 700 years of history. From approximately A.D. 600 through A.D. 1300 people lived and flourished in communities throughout the area, eventually building elaborate stone villages in the sheltered alcoves of the canyon walls. Today most people call these sheltered villages “cliff dwellings“. The cliff dwellings represent the last 75 to 100 years of occupation at Mesa Verde.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area – Lake Powell

Located southwest of Wilson Arch Community, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (NRA) offers unparalleled opportunities for water-based & backcountry recreation. The recreation area stretches for hundreds of miles from Lees Ferry in Arizona to the Orange Cliffs of southern Utah, encompassing scenic vistasgeologic wonders, and a panorama of human history. Additionally, the controversy surrounding the construction of Glen Canyon Dam and the creation of Lake Powell contributed to the birth of the modern day environmental movement. Telluride, Colorado

Located to the east of Wilson Arch Community, Telluride, home to the world-class Telluride Ski Resort, a hidden treasure among Colorado ski resorts, is known for its powder-filled bowlsfamily-friendly ski school programs, and awe-inspiring mountain views.
